Trash

Where art and sustainability meet

Together, we reimagine waste as a resource - building a more sustainable, creative, and connected future.

Coming soon! This Olmsted County initiative will launch in 2026, selecting two artists to complete a one-month residency between May-September.

The Artist-in-Residence Program provides paid opportunities for artists to create public artworks using at least 90% reclaimed materials from the Olmsted County Recycling Centers and Kalmar Landfill.

It all began with a partnership between a local Rochester artist and county Commissioner

Transforming Trash is hosted and partially funded by Olmsted County Environmental Resources.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
